The Gold Star Mothers Visitors Room
This room at Brookwood is much as it was, complete with original furniture, when the Gold Star Mothers visited on their pilgrimage.
Shown are
Fran Decomyn and
Andy DeComyn standing below the images of John J Pershing, General of the Armies & Chairman of the ABMC 1923 - 1948 (at left) and George C Marshall General of the Army & Chairman of the ABMC 1949 -1959.
The maquette is shown between the artists and will transform to a statue expected to stand between 5 and 6 feet tall.
From its inception the ABMC was constructing monuments & memorials to the fallen. This is the room used as an office pictured in 1925 and destined to become the Gold Star Mothers Visitors Room a few years later. All the furniture & mantle shown are still in use today.
It remains a tangible link to those who visited during the Gold Star Mothers expeditions and
Through The Void.
Here, in near full size are the 564 names inscribed on the Chapel Walls.
Here are the 18 stained glass windows of the Chapel each showing insignia of a branch of the Expeditionary Force.
